Hello! I am Dr. Muhammad Lutfor Rahman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information System at California State University San Marcos. My graduate student Torsha Mazumdar and I invite you to participate in a research study on Internet users' choice of browser security indicators. The purpose of the study is to understand the internet users’ choice of browser security indicators. Participation in this study involves three steps: Complete a pre-survey questionnaire, which will take approximately 3 minutes. Complete an online experiment, which will take approximately 2 minutes to complete. Complete an online questionnaire, which will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete. You must be at least 18 years of age and an internet user to participate in this study. Participation is completely voluntary. You may choose not to take part or may leave the study at any time. Your decision on whether to participate in this study will not affect your current or future relations with anyone at CSUSM or future care you may receive from CSUSM. As a token for participation in this study, 1 random participant out of 200 participants will receive a $50 worth of Amazon gift card. We will give away 15 gift cards to 15 lucky winners out of 3000 participants. Once our experiment is complete, we will conduct an opportunity drawing and pick 15 winners from the pool of 3000 participants. It may take up to 20 to 25 minutes of your total time to participate in this study.
