What is the difference between posting on craigslist and crossing your fingers that you'll find the perfect bandmates and going to a live jam and actually playing with people?
This is an example: I started playing with some people at a Meetup called SeattleJams about 7 months ago. We only get together about 2x a month at the jam (maybe 7-10 times total) but found some really great players and have pulled enough songs together to play a paying show. We'll be performing at Station 18 in Ballard on May 28th (the old Ballard Firehouse for those of you that have been around long enough to remember).

The first performance is always the door-opener, and providing we can deliver on the music and the audience likes us, we'll not only get asked back, but we'll get a great referral for other venues. It's always baby-steps at first until you're up and running.
