Learn what to consider when planting a container garden and how it's different from planting in the ground. You'll get hands on practice making soil and planting in a container. All of the things we share will hopefully lead you to have a more successful and productive garden. We'll dive into basic knowledge of the seasons and solar rhythms that are foundational to the way plants grow, pot placement as well as details of what to plant when, how to plant, and soil preparation /container soil mixture. We'll go beyond what it means to grow 'organic' vegetables, avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides, with a focus on urban gardening.
We will also cover some indoor plants to grow as food, medicine, or tea. With indoor plants we generally ask people to let go of their expectations and do what works for their space. Some indoor plants really need no direct sunlight and we will likely focus on those for this section.
There will be one to two hands on segments and Q and A session at towards the end of the workshop. Feel free to bring your gardening questions.
