DANBURY—Area Republicans on Monday night unanimously endorsed Rachel Chaleski as their candidate for State Representative in the 138th District. "I am truly humbled by the support that I've received thus far upon announcing my candidacy for the 138th District of the Connecticut General Assembly. I am excited and eager to bring my experience and passion for serving our community to serving you in Hartford," said Chaleski, who was endorsed at a Republican Caucus held at the Maron Hotel & Suites on Lake Avenue Extension. "Residents of the 138th deserve a leader, someone who will affect real and sustained change." Chaleski, 42, is the chairperson of the Danbury Board of Education, on which she is serving a second term. It is her involvement in the school system that initially inspired her decision to run for higher office, according to a campaign new release. Chaleski has been a longtime proponent of the Danbury Public Charter School. She describes herself as a fiscal conservative "concerned by the State's tax and spend approach to budgeting and its impact on the overall economy." Chaleski also supports law enforcement and would not support legislation that would place any further risk to the public. "It's time to send responsible leadership to Hartford to do the work of the people in this district," Chaleski said. "As your state representative, I will work in a bipartisan fashion towards education equity and access, fiscal responsibility, and a safe and more affordable Connecticut." Chaleski has been a resident of Danbury for over 20 years. She resides with her husband, Carl, and two children, who attend public schools. Chaleski earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Concordia College and has experience in corporate finance.
