Press release from Peoria County Government: The Peoria County Highway Department will be closing and rehabilitating the Swords Avenue bridge in West Peoria beginning the week of June 6, weather permitting. Work had been delayed from starting earlier due to material availability. Swords Avenue will be closed to through traffic, and a marked detour along Farmington Road, Main Street, Western Avenue, and Rohmann Avenue will be posted. Motorists can use the detour to access Kartville on Swords Avenue. Work is expected to be completed by November 4, 2022. This project was made possible through the State's Rebuild Illinois funds for a cost of $1,517,557. Weekly updates on the work will be posted at www.peoriacounty.gov/385/Construction-Projects.
