My paintings are living frames documenting and revering that spark of magic and tenacity that lives beneath the surface. Carly Allen Martin I consider my work minimalist yet expressive: a direct extension of my passionate personality and rich cultural background. Lucrecia Waggoner River Oaks District gallery, Laura Rathe Fine Art, announces “Wanderlust,” a duo exhibition featuring works from the artists Carly Allen Martin and Lucrecia Waggoner. Laura Rathe Fine Arts will be hosting an opening reception on Friday, June 24th, from 5 - 8pm. Wanderlust pays tribute to travel and ever-shifting environments through two considerably different, yet equally transfixing, artistic interpretations. Allen-Martin’s nature inspired abstractions seem to vibrate with energy and color. Accordingly, her works evoke a sense of freedom and abandon to the degree that even the brush strokes seem to dance in front of the viewer. No less impactful, Waggoner’s style is characterized as minimalist, methodical and meditative. Frequently working in three-dimensional mixed media, her process requires a deliberate approach where every vessel and its placement is carefully composed. Even so, Waggoner’s seemingly weightless installation works appear as if they have been captured in time, moments from floating away. Wanderlust will be on display through July 31, 2022.
