LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood schools will have a heightened law enforcement presence Wednesday in response to the Texas massacre, Lakewood police said. "In light of the tragic and senseless shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, there will be heightened law enforcement presence at all schools throughout the Township of Lakewood today," Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. "Chief Gregory Meyer, along with our other local, county and state counterparts, are dedicated to protecting the safety of our children, teachers and the administrators of our public and private schools," Staffordsmith said. "We ask that you keep those affected by this senseless act of violence in your thoughts and prayers and encourage you to report any suspicious activity," he said. "We will remain vigilant against any threat to our schools." As of Wednesday morning, 19 children have died in the shooting, along with three adults, including the shooter's grandmother.
