The Honorable Mayor John Tecklenburg and Tuffus Zimbabwe in concert playing various musical arrangements for the piano “I am always honored and excited to have the opportunity to play with Tuffus. Music and the Jenkins legacy go hand-in-hand, and I’m looking forward to being a part of such an inspiring cause,” said Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg. The Honorable John Tecklenburg and Tuffus Zimbabwe meet again for a special afternoon of musical entertainment at Morris Brown African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. Tuffus, resident pianist for the Saturday Night Live Band on NBC, is an acclaimed pianist/composer and musical/creative director of the new Jenkins Music and Arts Academy (JMAA) who like Mayor Tecklenburg studied music at Berklee College of Music and New York University. His vision is to continue the musical legacy of his great grandfather the Rev. Daniel Joseph Jenkins, founder of Jenkins Orphanage and the world famous Jenkins Orphanage Band, and that of his great grand uncle Edmund Thornton Jenkins, an accomplished musician and composer in his own right.
