THE POSITION The Community Engagement Associate provides full-time, community-based programmatic support to the Director of Community Engagement. The Community Engagement Associate is responsible for coordinating communication with community partners, assisting in producing events both off-site and on, coordinating related evaluation systems, and providing administrative support and thought partnership to the Director of Community Engagement. The Associate will take the lead on specific initiatives and relationships, as discussed, and agreed upon over time. Compensation for this position is $18.38 - $23.52 per hour plus benefits. The typical schedule for this position will be Monday – Friday 9:30 am to 6:00 pm but varies based on the dynamic schedule of the theater and will require occasional evening and weekend availability. Applicants from populations underrepresented in the theater field are strongly encouraged to apply. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Community Engagement • Support general management of community-based programming as needed in the Department of Community Engagement. • Maintain the department’s community meeting schedule. • Coordinate meetings with multiple partners • Support community partners at first rehearsal. • Manage appropriate catering, transportation, and space reservations for larger meetings. • Take and distribute notes at meetings with partners. • Create agendas with the Director of Community Engagement for community meetings and relationships to programmatic goals. • Support the Director of Community Engagement and the Director of Institutional Giving in grant-writing and funding opportunities, both in ideating and constructing the proposals. • Support internal meetings and staff-based community events as needed through facilitation and planning. 2. Audience Engagement and Producing • Read season scripts. • Work with the Director of Community Engagement to research, form and maintain robust and meaningful community partnerships for most shows. • Attend design presentations, first rehearsals, designer runs and performances to build the connection between the play and the community partner. • Coordinate Director talks with staff and share their facilitation with the Director of Community Engagement. • Work with the Director of Community Engagement to bring in community guests for most post play conversation. • Coordinate post-play dates and marketing language with the marketing department. • Work with the Director of Community Engagement to share facilitations of the post play conversations throughout the season. • Coordinate and execute program articles about community partners with the marketing department. • Co-produce and develop all work related to mainstage productions and community needs. 3. Administrative Support • Maintain the department budget along with the Director of Community Engagement. • Reconcile the department credit card. • Contract artists and community partners when necessary. • Submit and follow up with check requests. • Attend all-staff meetings, artistic department meetings, and community engagement check-ins. • Participate in departmental play-reading group. • Support the Director of Community Engagement in all evaluation processes. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS • Demonstration of administrative experience, preferably in an artistic setting. • Recognition of and commitment to live performance as act of necessary civic engagement. • Dedication to fostering and maintaining positive relationships with a wide variety of constituencies. • Exceptional interpersonal skills. • Interest in producing small events, budgeting, and evaluation processes. • Skill in writing, proof-reading, and editing to send out clear communication. • Experience working quickly, efficiently, and independently. • Ability to proactively anticipate and solve problems. • Skill in time management and planning to handle multiple demands. • Skill in exercising good judgment and maintaining confidentiality. • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, including Word, Excel, and Power Point. • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. • Experience, ability, and commitment to working with individuals and teams that are mixed across lines of difference such as race, gender-identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status.
