Description

Press release from the City of Syracuse: May 25, 2022 The open house will give community members an opportunity to learn about the proposed DRI projects and share thoughts on the proposals that could shape the future of the Southwest Gateway. The workshop is open to the public and walking tours through the DRI target area will be provided, where attendees can get an up close and real-time perspective surrounding the project proposals. Intended to more seamlessly unite with Downtown, the City seeks to expand its vibrant urban core by developing dense, walkable mixed-use corridors that connect residential neighborhoods to the Central Business District. "Recent investments have created momentum for the city to redevelop underutilized and vacant properties, improve public infrastructure and green spaces and increase affordable housing," said Mayor Walsh. "With the support of city residents, the Southwest Gateway District is poised to enhance a growing downtown community by connecting the CBD and to our neighbors in the South and West." The DRI planning process incorporates robust public engagement to ensure the strategic investment plan reflects the priorities of the Syracuse community. Additional public workshop events will be held in the Summer as part of the DRI planning process prior to completion of the Syracuse DRI Strategic Investment Plan. Materials will be uploaded to https://www.syracusedri.com/public-meetings following the workshop. Please visit www.ny.gov/DRI for more information on opportunities for public input and the DRI planning process. This press release was produced by the City of Syracuse.
