Press release from the City of Rochester: May 23, 2022 (Monday, May 23, 2022) – The City of Rochester met or exceeded all federal and state drinking water standards, according to the annual water quality report required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. (EPA) The EPA requires all water utilities to produce and distribute water quality reports on an annual basis. In 2021, the City met or exceeded all of the drinking water standards set by the EPA and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). In 2021, the City continued its commitment to water quality through its involvement with the Partnership for Safe Water. The goal of this voluntary American Water Works Association (AWWA) and EPA program is to help water utilities optimize strategies to provide consumers with quality water that exceeds what current regulations require.
