We are currently looking to hire a part time Aquarium Specialist for our Service Division in the Washington, DC area. This would be a Monday, Wednesday and Friday position, approx. 15 hours a week. Daily routine includes duties such as: · Cleaning and maintaining a saltwater reef aquarium · Monitoring the health of fish, and medicating as necessary · Cleaning and maintaining of all filtration components and equipment · Testing and maintaining proper water parameters · Preparing food portions and feeding fish, invertebrates and coral Qualifications: · Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology or other Environmental Science and/or SEVERAL years experience maintaining personal aquariums · Experience with keeping marine fish and invertebrates · Applicant must possess a thorough knowledge of disease recognition, daily aquarium husbandry, food preparation, nutrition, and water quality · Applicant must have experience working with large life support systems and basic PVC plumbing skills · The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is necessary · Applicant must be able to dive in a reef tank weekly This is a part time position requiring 15 hours per week. Position requires “on call” emergency availability for evenings and weekends.
