"Never let a tragedy go to waste." Now the Democrats once again want to put forth more gun control legislation. This once again only hurts legal gun owners and potential gun owners of reasonably sound mind. Of course, the idea of more or deeper background checks will do absolutely nothing to prevent school shootings or any mass shootings to take place. The warning signs are always there: weird behavior, warnings posted of social media by the potential shooter, angry and/or mentally unstable teenagers who have easy access to guns, and so on. (Most of the school shootings have been done by 18 year olds or younger, and in at least two cases they kill close relatives before their rampage). One cannot legislate against any of this. So where are the parents in all of this? Where are the school counselors, teachers, neighbors, and so on who can see this unfolding? They are the ones who have daily contact with these potential shooters and fail to report them when the warning signs are getting louder and louder. This kind of tragedy is rarely or never predictable, and if it was, what do the people who have daily contact with them do? They can head off a tragedy better than any new legislation can. But the Democrats never let a tragedy go to waste for political posturing. They may never abolish the second amendment or take away guns, but they sure are working hard at it.
