I'm looking for a new expression of music, love, and life - seeking a change from playing around with pop/rock and classic rock covers. So I'm putting together a new project that starts by blending funk and world music originals (African, Latin/Brazilian, even Klezmer) with some western song structures to get people up and dancing! The ultimate style and direction will be organic, depending on the players and the magic that happens, no crackers. Song development starts with a song core and shifts into democratic collaboration and exploration. Covers could be included, especially if creative and interpretive in the style of the group. A key element will be a percussionist to complement a great "kit" drummer who,.e.g., loves dropping a North African 6/8 rhythms on a std 4/4. I can't even begin to name all the percussive instruments that I love the sound of, so jump in and educate me.
