Summary of the Job: This is a full-time, year-round, entry-level position consisting mainly of fieldwork. Fieldwork will involve implementation of ecological restoration and landscape projects including land management/invasive species management, landscape planting and construction, operation of power equipment, installation of bioengineering materials, and basic organization and maintenance of tools and equipment. Essential Job Functions: • Conduct planting, landscape construction (including installation of bioengineering materials such as coir logs and biodegradable erosion control blankets) and invasive species management, including herbicide application • Conduct pruning and other landscape maintenance duties • Implement ecological restoration projects and installation of bioengineering materials. • Plant identification • Clean and prepare work sites to eliminate possible hazards • Ensure proper handling/staging of plants and other materials Required Licenses/Certifications (and/or a willingness to obtain those not currently held) • Valid Driver’s License • Valid DOT Medical Card and/or ability and willingness to obtain medical card • MA Pesticide Applicators License and/or ability and willingness to obtain license within 3 months of employment Knowledge, Ability, Other Job Requirements: • Experience working with landscape power tools and chain saws • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, and movement of entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, and walking • Ability to work as a team with field crew members and subcontractors Opportunities for Growth and Professional Development - BlueFlax Design LLC will support professional development/training/licensure for the following: • Hoisting and Hydraulics License • Massachusetts Invasive Plant Management Certification • Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist • NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professional
