Description
Six piece (m + f singer) Boston cover band (think 80s, 90s, 2000s rock and top40) seeks lead guitarist. We’ve been in existence for about 7 years and have played more bar gigs than I can count and over a dozen wedding gigs, though we are focusing on the latter space more right now. We have paused scheduling prior to 2023, in order to ensure that we get a lead guitarist who is a good fit and interested in playing with us for the long term.
Although we are all essentially pro level (with some of us having played music full time for stretches in our lives), we all have non-music career day jobs now. For that reason, we only practice approximately once a month (Sunday nights in metro west boston) and ideally would gig not more than 8 times a year when fully up and running. In short: although we play at a high level and make money and have fun doing it, this is a hobby for all of us.
So, the best fit would be in late 20s, 30s, or 40s, and have a full time career outside of music…but also would have the advanced chops to creatively play lead riffs and solos, including mimicking a number of synth parts on the guitar. The ideal fit would not be focused on money (though it is obviously a nice perk) and would be amenable to putting in the time to get tight before the band resumes gigging. So, financial self sufficiency and owning a car are probably musts. To be clear, this is probably not the right project for a full-time musician who simply wants to add another gigging general business band to their portfolio. At the same time, we are looking for somebody who plays the guitar at a very high level.
We will likely hold auditions in July. To qualify for an audition, please have some clips ready to go and I may ask for more. In turn, I will send some clips of the band gigging.
