Description

More independence, talking about dating, part-time jobs, teams and travel . . . give her tools to assess and keep her safer. For girls who are exploring on their own, who are looking to keep themselves safer.  They are out more, with friends or by themselves.  They may have a job, and encountering #MeToo incidents.  Maybe they are concerned about a cultural environment that romanticizes unhealthy relationship behavior and tends to denigrate girls’  and women's abilities and sense of self.  In this class, participants will learn to recognize “red flags” that someone may mean harm, plan safe exits from iffy situation, practice physical moves (just in case), and learn to find supportive self-care. All in age-appropriate language and concepts. Moms also may register and particpate; any mom attending needs to have a teen (age 13 and up) in the class. However, teens do not need to bring a parent to participate. All participants need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or show documentation of negative COVID test done no more than 3 days in advance. This class is for all cis and trans girls and women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women.
