Description
I play guitar, pro level and write, pro level. We'll do originals and play out. And it'll be great. I promise. If you want to get somewhere in music this may be the ticket. Only serious, fully developed and career minded vocalists should respond. I have good players wanting to get started but we need the singer to make things happen. The goal is write, record, tour, repeat and make a very good living at it, starting with a seven or eight song fast paced rockin' set that knocks out any competing band in ten seconds flat. To fully develop and rehearse/refine the set should take six months but it could be less time. This may seem slow but it's not. You want to be out there with all the kinks worked out so it sounds great. I can get warm up gigs with back catalog touring acts 1000-2500 people in the audience. Specifics: You have good ears, creativity and avoid generic cliche approaches. You have good judgement for determining what is working well and what is not working well. If someone, anyone, who wants to really be in this business can't hear or realize when their parts are not working they are sunk. Musical DNA + musical depth matters. It is the overriding essential element that is absolutely necessary for knocking out music that sounds above average. Performance background, with pitch stability, no raucousness; having vocal training would be optimal as I've encountered amateurs and dabblers who obviously love music and singing but they are off key, all over the place and can't hit or hold notes or hit notes accurately when dealing with intervals. Since I did touch on technical issues directly above I will add that it is expected that our singer already has ongoing coaching, or, starts getting coaching and sticks with it so the voice and ability is optimized and stays that way. This is nothing new in the big leagues. All top tier, consistently performing and recording vocalists are on that agenda. As a result of coaching, training and maintenance you won't wear out your voice and sound like Popeye The Sailor when you're 41 years old. Bring a unique rocky, edgy, melodic, soulful, swinging vibe and cool vocals, deliver the hooks and embellish with wails screams growls purrs snarls sneers hollers yowls cries and whatever else you can dig out of yourself. Generic sounding, Bel Canto, Broadway Theater style vocals, overloaded with vibrato, not needed. It's not the big band era anymore. Be inventive and creative. Bel Canto for rocky type music has been out of date ever since The Beatles and even bit before them, with Hank Williams and Chuck Berry leading the way. If you want to make everything you sing sound like generic adult contemporary, then nonstop vibrato is the way to go, but not here lol. Carry a solid tune--lead singing means exactly what the term says--you're leading it all, and able to do vocals that cut through the band and demonstrate you're in command, with good energy, charisma, no fear of performing live. Vocals only; I am convinced that when attention is divided between vocals and playing an instrument then the vocal performance suffers. Don't ask me how I know this...Thus, I want the singer focused on delivering great vocals, only, not watching their hands on a guitar or other instrument and losing pitch control, timing, or articulation and pronunciation. ~influences~ nirvana early zeppelin dirty rotten imbeciles 60s bubblegum pop joan jett dion the sensibles the sonics rosetta tharpe kleptomania joe walsh the monkees the rascals the pain teens the b 52s darlene love doris ann allen blondie the clash billy cobham the ronettes jim carroll freddie king janis joplin amy winehouse the cars the turtles the jewel gospel singers the easybeats dusty springfield gang of four television barbara lynn the soft boys iggy pop les paul and mary ford milk (uk underground power trio 90's) the beach boys eartha kitt the good rats wendy o. williams ~and lots more~ Include your contact info and direct email in your reply.
