Brooklyn Bassist Putting Himself Out There

Meets

New York City NY

Description

Yeah, so I've been in NYC for over 10 years, have played in a bunch of bands over the years, then the pandemic hit and my bandmates moved out of the city / went on to new things. After 2 years I thought it'd be good to put some feelers out there. I'm in my mid-30s so not looking for a career in music, just something that gets me excited to practice and play a few gigs. I play both a four string and a bass VI and have been picking up some synth gear lately too. I tend to play in the pocket, feel things out, expand into bass melodies where I find space in the song for it. My playing style is heavily influenced by Peter Hook, Andy Rourke, and David J. I gravitate towards "dad emo" music that has a moody pop quality towards it like The National, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Phoebe Bridgers, Japanese Breakfast, etc, as well as 80s post-punk music like New Order, The Cure, and The Smiths, and I spent plenty of time at basement punk shows when I was younger so I have a soft spot for punk-adjacent bands like the Menzingers, PUP, and Jeff Rosenstock. So if you're looking for a bass player that fits that bill, hit me up. I can send samples of my playing on request.
