Integrated Appliances – The Evolution of Kitchen Design presented by Fisher & Paykel
As the role of the kitchen has evolved, so too has kitchen design. Over the course of the last century, the role of the kitchen has changed significantly – inherently designed for just one user to prepare meals, it has steadily metamorphosed into a social hub. Today, kitchens have become multipurpose rooms, accommodating a variety of tasks and functioning as the heart of the home. Given this movement of breaking down the literal barriers separating a kitchen from the rest of the home, architects and designers have been challenged to find new and thoughtful ways to seamlessly incorporate kitchens into the greater living space of homes. Integrated appliances have helped lead this design charge as a key kitchen component.
Briana Ryan will be presenting. Briana is a design development manager at Fisher & Paykel Appliances, primarily covering New England. She has been in the kitchen & bath industry for more than ten years, the past six with F&P. Before heading out into the field to support local designers, architects and builders, Briana managed Fisher & Paykel’s New York Experience Center. She has worked with a number of design organizations over the years, serving two terms on the NKBA Manhattan Chapter council. A mid-century modern enthusiast and weekend gourmet, Briana spends a lot of time in her own Fisher & Paykel kitchen that perfectly complements the aesthetic of her 1967 post & beam home in Rockland County, NY.
