Memorials & Monuments: A Crucial Community ConversationDo you know the DIFFERENCE between a memorial and a monument? Do you know how, why, and when they are used? What's their impact on our society now and in the long run? How have they influenced history? This crucial community conversation is preparation for the upcoming Soil Collection Ceremony on Saturday, June 11, 2022. The event will memorialize two Black Americans lynched in Salt Lake County: Mr. Thomas Coleman and Mr. William "Sam Joe" Harvey. "Memorials & Monuments - A Crucial Community Conversion" covers what each is, their differences, how they're used, their impact on society, and why and when we choose them. DETAILS: The event is in partnership with Hyrum City Museum, Sema Hadithi African American Heritage and Culture Foundation. This presentation will be held in person and virtually.
