MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester Democrats are looking to fill a vacancy on the local Board of Education created by the resignation of board member Melanie Stefanovicz.
Stefanovicz, who was elected to terms in 2015, 2017 and 2021, resigned from the board last month.
Manchester Democratic Town Chairman Michael Pohl said any registered Democrat interested in serving on the board should contact him (860-983-4804).
Pohl said potential candidates will be asked to interview with the town committee's Nominating Committee, which would then recommend a candidate to the full town committee. The name of the Democratic Town Committee's nominee would then be forwarded to the Board of Education, which would make the actual appointment.
The person selected to fill this seat would serve until November, 2023, when voters will elect a candidate to fill this seat for a full term. The person selected to fill the seat now is eligible to run in the Nov. 2023 election, Pohl said,
"Melanie Stefanovicz was a strong voice for parents and students on our Board of Education. She made many contributions to move our school system forward and we greatly appreciate her efforts," Phlegms said. "We are looking to fill her seat with someone equally committed to the progress of our public schools and the success of our students."
