ANDOVER, MA — An Andover teen has received eight scholarships and interest from several Division I football schools in New England and throughout the country.
Jackson Conners-McCarthy, who plays linebacker and wide receiver for Brooks School in North Andover, has received offers from schools such as UMass, Fordham, Buffalo, Bryant, University of Rhode Island, Akron, Merrimack and the University of New Hampshire—while also receiving interest from Boston College, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Syracuse University. Five of the offers have been to play linebacker, while the other three are for wide receiver.
Conners-McCarthy, who has played football since he was four years old, starting with flag football in Andover as a child, played for Andover High School during his freshman and sophomore years before attending Brooks School.
When asked what position he'd prefer to play, whether linebacker or wide receiver—he told Patch, "I want to play the position where I can best contribute." Although Conners-McCarthy hasn't decided which school he will attend yet, he expects to decide in early July.
