Information via The Community Fund of Darien DARIEN, CT — In case you were wondering why people were doing the Chicken Dance on the Post Road last weekend, taking a dip in the chilly waters at Weed Beach or dropping off toiletries at J.McLaughlin, it was all part of Mission Possible!, the elaborate scavenger hunt hosted by The Community Fund of Darien (TCF) to benefit 30 local nonprofits in Darien, Norwalk and Stamford. Participants in the second annual Mission Possible! scavenger hunt raced around Darien for two days with the task of completing 176 missions that sent them to every park and beach in town as well as local businesses. "Mission Possible! was such a great event to bring the entire community together. We had so much fun building a game that engaged residents while supporting nonprofits and our local businesses." said TCF Executive Director Janet King in a news release. "The competition was so fierce we had to end the game with a round of tiebreaker missions." In the end, the first-place team, Zesty Quails, walked away with a $1,000 prize, the Secret Squirrels a $500 prize and the Goofy Goobers $250. In addition to funds being raised for nonprofits, participants were challenged to drop off food at Person to Person's food drive, school supplies for Children's Learning Centers, toiletries for Family Centers, toothpaste for Open Door Shelters and hand soap, paper towels and tissues for Darien Human Services. The end result was boxes packed with essential items. TCF) inspires people and mobilizes resources to strengthen the community.
