Join Chicago for Chicagoans for a walking tour of East Albany Park, covering neighborhood history, architecture, and current developments.
REGISTRATION AVAILABLE 5/21/22
Join Chicago for Chicagoans founder and neighborhood resident Patti Swanson on Saturday, June 4th for a one-of-a-kind Albany Park six year anniversary tour! We have come a long way (and survived a whole pandemic) since our humble beginnings in 2016, and we are so thrilled to kick off a season of neighborhood walking tours with the first community we ever covered.
Beginning at the Francisco Brown Line station, we'll explore the history, landmarks, and architecture of one of the city's most brilliantly diverse neighborhoods. See quaint rows of bungalows and other vernacular treasures, admire ornate public schools, fieldhouses and vintage storefronts, discover the rich history of our local businesses and nonprofit organizations, and learn stories of the area's humble beginnings and the tapestry of immigrants that have created the neighborhood we love today.
The tour will wind through the eastern part of the neighborhood (approximately 2.5 miles), ending at Kimball Brown Line station. Participants are encouraged to stay & enjoy lunch at Hot Dog Station after the tour!
For folks that love to walk, a companion tour of West Albany Park will begin at Kimball at 1pm. Separate registration is required -- click here!
Chicago for Chicagoans happily exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service. A suggested tip of $10-20 per person is always appreciated, but reviewing us on Yelp, liking us on Facebook, spreading the word, and attending future tours tells us how much you love us too! We are a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates inclusive walking tours by & for Chicago residents to learn more about their own city.
