SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police arrested a suspect in connection with a May 14 fatal stabbing at a SamTrans bus stop on Hillsdale Boulevard.
Ricardo Bibbs, a 56-year-old transient, was charged with homicide and assault with a deadly weapon, San Mateo Police announced Monday.
Bibbs and the victim, 48-year-old Tedrick Towns, were involved in an argument hours before Towns was found slumped over a bench with a pool of blood underneath him at the bust stop at 11 West Hillsdale Boulevard. The argument occurred sometime after 1:40 a.m., police said, and a community member waiting for the bus found Towns hours later.
Bibbs was arrested in Redwood City on the afternoon of May 16. He had two previous convictions involving stabbing a person. He also failed to register as a sex offender and was a parolee-at-large with an outstanding warrant, according to police.
