This is a gathering of people interested in sustainability and the environment. Sustainable Spirits is a monthly gathering organized by the North Carolina Composting Council to create a space for people who love the earth to come together for conversation, networking and fellowship. It is free and open to the public. There will be food trucks on site for dinner. This event is being sponsored by Don't Waste Durham and the Jireh Family Farm. The Jireh Farmily Farm is right next door to Mystic Distillery where they produce meat and poltry as well as herbs and other products. Their new Farm Store will be open just for us, so plan to walk over and visit their wonderful establishment. Don't Waste Durham is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create solutions that prevent trash. The organization works hard to create supportive policy changes at the local and state levels that incentivize waste reduction, and its innovative programs like GreenToGo, Bull City Boomerang Bag, and The ReCirculation Project help businesses to reduce use of throw-away items like plastic shopping bags and single-use takeout containers.
