EPCHS National Honor Society Ends Year With Successful Blood Drive

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — National Honor Society members brought back their annual blood drive after a two-year absence May 12, enlisting the classes and staff Evergreen Park Community High School in donating 60 units of blood. "It was the first drive we were able to hold in three years, so it was good to be back," said Ben Nesler, EPCHS' social studies division chair and faculty sponsor of the National Honor Society. Much of the donated blood will go directly to local hospitals for immediate use, Nesler said. EPCHS partnered with Versiti, a fusion of donors that recognize the gifts of blood and life are precious, in the collection and donation. NHS members thanked the students and staff members who participated, making the first blood drive since the pandemic began a successful one. School nurse Vicki Tracy, in particular, worked hard in keeping track of the donors. "It was a good way for NHS to end their year," Nesler said.
