Competencies:
The applicant must possess service skills; have a flexible nature and a command of the English language. This position also requires follow-through skills and must be able to work with minimal supervision.
The Maintenance Worker must be proficient in the use of basic hand and power tools. Basic knowledge and ability to operate a forklift is a plus. Candidates should be able to work with others in a festive environment. Majority of duties include janitorial cleaning and trash removal during the annual Stanislaus County Fair.
The ideal candidate would be flexible for evening and/or weekend work schedules.
Physical Requirements:
The installer must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, crouch, torso twist, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, stairs and bleachers, reach overhead, reach shoulder height and reach below shoulder height. In addition, candidate must be able adaptable to potential inclement weather, be it excessive summer heat or cool nights.
Under the supervision and direction of the Senior Maintenance Worker of the Stanislaus County Fair, the worker will be required to perform the following functions:
1. Liaison with Event Staff to create a fun and safe event environment
2. Operate a forklift, golf cart and other, small, motorized equipment as needed
3. Must be 18 years old or older with a Valid Driver's license
4. Utilize problem solving skills and time management skills.
5. Responsible for securing the buildings and facility after events have ended.
6. Load and unload equipment and material as required.
7. Prepare and maintain work materials and supplies.
8. Properly and safely remove trash and waste to designated areas.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Work Site Environment: Inside buildings and outdoors for event setup/tear-down, setup and removal of trash cans and other debris boxes.
The Maintenance Worker position is a temporary part-time, evening and weekend position.
