Green Cheek Conure Needs Experienced Home

Description

Meet Georgie, a 2 year old Green Cheeked Conure (unsexed/vaccinated) he is green/turquoise dilute. Shy at first, warms up to people with some time in small bursts and then will love to cuddle with you. Once comfortable with you, Georgie is very welcoming to gentle neck rubs, hand petted, holding and is easily handled for nail clippings and wing clippings with someone experienced to do so as well as gives kisses. We're asking that Georgie goes to a bird experienced home, preferably someone who has large bird experience or higher than Parakeet experience as the care and social requirements are extremely different. Georgie is territorial over his cage, but only towards another bird he isn't bonded with (yet), not towards people. He has never bitten since we have had him, even when clipping his wings/nails, just squeezes. He has been around dogs and is not bothered by them. We had taken Georgie in months ago hoping he would bond with our other GCC, but unfort he showed no interest in her, even though she would groom him but she is now terrified of him for some reason and is causing her distress, which we are bummed out about as alone they are both amazing birds. Georgie is fairly quiet compared to our other GCC, and has several distinct cute whistles he mimics once he is comfortable with you. He is perfectly fine being an only bird. In his previous home he was partnered with another GCC with no issues, so it's possible for him to eventually pair again with time and proper introduction. Because of our small apartment, we are unable to house both birds in 2 separate cages, it's simply too much for us especially now that our first bird is in distress. Georgie would be coming with his fav toys and bird backpack for traveling and some food (does not come with cage - we are using a temp cage to house them separately). We're asking for a $275 rehoming fee to assure he is going to an appropriate and serious home. We will screen people of interest, as finding him the right home is more important to us than handing him over as soon as possible. If you would like to come and visit him you are welcome to, or ask more questions as well. We will not respond to messages that are flagged as spam as we know we will get them.
