Description
We are two trans dudes who don't pass well as trans (yet), but are obviously queer presenting. Basically, should the political climate ever get so dangerous that staying in the state of Texas is a genuine threat to our lives on the basis of our identity or perceived sexuality (we get mistaken for lesbians), we want to invest in a backup plan for getting out of the state. In this unlikely (but still not unlikely enough for us to feel safe) scenario, we would have to drive out of state and manage to get out without being outed/sussed out. My insane proposal? Finding two beards who, should the state become inhospitable to LGBT people, would be willing to pretend to be our boyfriends up until we reach a blue state or wherever would possibly be safe. Do I think this will happen? Probably not. Could it happen? To be honest, I don't feel certain enough to NOT plan for the possibility. Austin may be a liberal city, but Texas is a hellhole. A hellhole with rabid gun owners from here and onwards through the neighboring states. Serious responses only.
So, if you're equally pessimistic about the future of your safety, consider replying to this ad!
Expectations:
- You must prove that you're a trans ally. Pictures of attending a protest/recommendations from trans friends or family/or something similarly concrete.
- You will have to meet us in public settings where we can get to know you enough to rule out if you're axe murderers.
