JOB OVERVIEW: At Saturate we believe that the landscape services industry often lacks a sense of teamwork and collaboration. We also believe that the role of the gardener is often overlooked as it’s the most crucial role to healthy landscapes. At Saturate, we are all gardeners at our cores. The role of gardener is an excellent introduction to the landscaping industry. The role of landscape gardener plays a crucial role in the ongoing sustainability and health of a landscape. This role is the hands and heart of our operation. We have a management team that consults with current and prospective clients; sources materials; coordinates and plans; and leads onsite installations. Our landscape gardeners are the key collaborators in implementation. We seek individuals who take instructions, make observations, prioritize tasks within a scheduled time frame, and have fun working with plants and gardening! You will get dirty and work hard outside. The spaces Saturate tends to vary by size and form; private yards to public spaces; low to high habitat opportunity for wildlife; etc. Our aim is to make impactful environmental changes in every garden we care to benefit the land and reduce the need for water. It takes season after season to gain experience and confidence - we want you to commit to growing with us and our gardens. DUTIES: Familiarity with California native plants and climate appropriate plants Mulching and soil care pruning, thinning and hedging hand-watering Planting, thinning, deadheading Tying up and staking plants, vines, shrubs and trees Tend to detailed clean up of paths, outdoor living space and entryways Understanding of plants watering needs Familiarity with drip irrigation function and repair Familiarity with sprinkler systems function and repair Familiarity with programming and operating irrigation controllers and valves QUALIFICATIONS: ● Has an open, flexible schedule and is interested in growing as a “regenerative” gardening and moving towards full-time work in the landscaping industry ● Must be willing to travel to all parts of LA proper (Westside, Eastside, Beach Communities). Is confident in basic gardening such as how to use hand pruners, how to successfully plant, how to weed effectively and how to water plants properly. ● Can identify and communicate basic issues and propose solutions in a landscape ● Is resourceful, good at problem solving and take initiative in offering solutions ● Enjoys physical labor and spending time outside and understands some days are more demanding than others ● Brings an upbeat, energetic spirit to their work ● Engages in efficient, direct and kind communication with peers and supervisors ● Can lift up to 50 pounds using their core for stability often daily ● Takes interest in deepening their knowledge about soil, native plants and advanced gardening techniques Please send an email introducing yourself and what interests you about becoming a gardener, with an attached resume to [email protected].
