GLEN COVE, NY — More than 100 fugitives have been arrested in Nassau and Suffolk counties following a multi-agency sweep dubbed "Long Island Wave." The sweep, which took place the first two weeks of May, was the first of its kind on Long Island in 15 years, according to officials. It was a collaboration between the U.S. Marshals Service, New York State Police, and other local police agencies, including the Glen Cove and Nassau County police departments. "The joint law enforcement operation was aimed at disrupting Long Island gang activity and took 116 wanted persons — 69 of which were gang members off the streets," Glen Cove Det. Lt. John Nagle said. "Members of the Glen Cove Detective Division were all sworn in as Deputy Marshals for the duration of the sweep."
