TOMS RIVER, NJ — Welcome to the May 23 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight events coming up during the week in Toms River. There are two primary township meetings this week, with the Township Council set to meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and the Zoning Board of Adjustment set to meet on Thursday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings are set to be held in the L. Manuel Hirschblond Meeting Room at town hall, 33 Washington St. The agendas will be published before the meetings. The council agenda will be found on this page. The zoning board agenda will be posted here. The council has three ordinances that were introduced at the last meeting and likely will be ready for final readings, including one that will allow food trucks to operate on Washington Street on Sundays. Another would permit private dune walkovers. Open Space/Green Acres hearing There is a hearing set for Thursday on a plan by the township to remove a piece of property from the town's open space inventory. The hearing is set for 5 p.m. Thursday. Memorial Day parade The annual Memorial Day parade, organized by the George P. Vanderveer American Legion Post 129, will honor U.S. military members who lost their lives in service to the country. The parade goes down Main Street to Washington Street and ends with a ceremony at Toms River Town Hall. Marchers will gather at 9 a.m. behind the shopping center on Highland Parkway and the parade is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
