LONG VALLEY, NJ — COVID-19 levels have risen in the Morris County area over the last month. Morris County is one of ten in New Jersey with "high" transmission levels, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As a result of the increased number of cases The Washington Township Health Department would like to remind residents that at-home COVID-19 tests are once again free of charge. As more people go out, gather, and visit with family, friends and neighbors, each home should have COVID-19 test kits on hand. This is a good opportunity to double-check that you have enough test kits on hand. Early detection, as with any disease, is the best way to fight the disease and protect against its spread to others, according to the CDC. Because of the increased number of positive cases, the CDC has recommended masks for use in public places and on public transportation in nine New Jersey counties for the first time since federal COVID-19 risk guidelines were updated in February.
