Press release from the County of Dane: May 20, 2022 At the Dane County Board meeting last night, County Board Supervisor Melissa Ratcliff introduced a resolution to continue the Dane County Broadband Task Force. "Internet access is no longer a "nice to have" feature in homes and businesses, it is a necessity for full, equitable participation. That's why we need to continue to work together to improve access and affordability," said County Board Supervisor Melissa Ratcliff (District 36), Chair of the Dane County Broadband Task Force. "Our goal is to continue to push for expansion throughout the entire County, and to make sure those that have access can afford the service." The Task Force will submit a report based on its findings over the last year with recommendations in the next few months, along with survey information. Ratcliff's resolution would continue the Task Force's work for the next two and a half years. "Because of the Task Force, we have a better, shared understanding of the complex technical issues that affect broadband expansion. We also have more knowledge about infrastructure needs in rural areas," said County Board Supervisor Kate McGinnity (District 37), Vice-Chair of the Dane County Broadband Task Force. "We've accomplished a great amount thanks to the Task Force members and Supervisor Ratcliff's leadership, but there is much more work ahead."
