HANSON, MA — A man was killed after he was struck by an MBTA commuter rail train in Hanson Sunday morning, MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan confirmed. The unidentified man was trespassing in the right of way just before 5 a.m. on the Plymouth line and struck near Monponset Street Crossing in Hanson, Sullivan said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Service for the commuter rail in Kingston was re-routed so it would start and stop from Hanson, but regular service was able to continue after 10 a.m., Sullivan said. According to Sullivan, MBTA transit police are working to investigate the incident. No additional information was immediately available.
