Let's ride bikes & go camping! WHAT IS IT?? "Swift Campout is a global call to go bike-camping on June 25th and 26th, 2022.For the 8th year-in-a-row thousands of adventurous spirits will load camping gear on their bikes for a weekend outing. Here at Swift, we believe that there’s little better than spending the longest day of the year on a bicycle and the shortest night of the year sleeping under the stars. " WHO CAN ATTEND? HOW DO I SIGN UP? Everyone! Well, attendance at our event is limited due to campsite rules. But all people from all backgrounds and demographics are welcome. Please sign up here if you're coming, and only sign up if you *know* you're coming. Contact us or cancel your ticket if you can no longer make it so we can open up your spot for someone else. We are especially psyched for folks new to bike camping to come along! We were all first-timers at one point and we know how intimidating it can seem. This is a great time to try it out! We're also chock-full of advice and guidance to get all your gear on your bike and help you have a good experience. This year, we are asking for a sliding scale contribution of $10-$20 to send to Oak City Cares, a hub for connecting individuals and families, who are at risk of, or are experiencing homelessness, to coordinated services that create a path to stable housing and renewed hope. THE DEETS: Meet at the shop.We'll leave the shop around 5pm and ride to Umstead.The ride is about 12 miles to the Umstead Youth Camp. The route has some pretty good-sized hills but we'll take our time getting there.On Sunday morning, checkout is at 11am. We usually do a staggered roll-out, meaning you can leave whenever you want, with whoever you want, but you won't have to ride back alone if you don't want to.You gotta carry your own gear and food. The ride is no-drop but self-supported. There will be both tent and hammock camping spots. All items must be packed out the following morning, so plan with that in mind.Please note that while dogs are allowed in Umstead State Park, they are not allowed at this campsite.Drugs & alcohol are DEFINITELY not allowed.
