Let's ride bikes & go camping! WHO CAN ATTEND? HOW DO I SIGN UP? This event is for folks who are women, trans, femme, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and any and all other marginalized genders! (There is not a great shorthand for this yet, just alphabet soup.) We are especially psyched for folks new to bike camping to come along! We were all first-timers at one point and we know how intimidating it can seem. This is a great time to try it out! We're also chock-full of advice and guidance to get all your gear on your bike and help you have a great experience. Come by the shop anytime we're open with a list of what you'd like to bring, and we'll help you figure out how to get it on your bike! THE DEETS: Meet at the shop.We'll leave the shop around 5pm and ride to Umstead State Park. The ride is about13.3 miles to the Umstead's Family Campground. The route has some pretty good-sized hills but we'll take our time getting there.On Sunday morning, checkout is at 11am. We usually do a staggered roll-out, meaning you can leave whenever you want, with whoever you want, but you won't have to ride back alone if you don't want to.You gotta carry your own gear and food. The ride is no-drop but self-supported. There will be plenty of tent and hammock camping spots. All items must be packed out the following morning, so plan with that in mind.Please note that while dogs are allowed in Umstead State Park, they are not allowed at this campsite.Drugs & alcohol are DEFINITELY not allowed.
