Parents Speak Out Against Sex Education Class At Chatham BOE Meeting Several Chatham mothers attended the Chatham Board of Education's regular meeting on Monday night to express their concerns about specific lessons being taught in the district's health classes. The recently revised sex education curriculum has sparked outrage across the Garden State. 4 Students At Chatham High School Awarded Silver Key In Art Contest Four Chatham High School students received the Silver Key, the second-highest award, in the 2022 Regional Scholastic Art Awards during a virtual ceremony on May 14. Emma Batljan won in ceramics for her piece titled "Fixing;" Jasmine Lewin won in painting for her piece titled "Growing Pains;" Claire Zhou won in drawing & illustration for her piece titled "Afternoon in Quarantine;" and Marianna Zingone won in fashion for her piece titled "Control. Electric Leaf Blowers Coming To Chatham High School The days of the gas-powered lawnmower are over for Chatham High School. The Chatham School District intends to use a $2,000 Sustainable Jersey grant to replace gas-powered lawn care equipment with electric equipment. A growing number of communities across the country are becoming aware of the health and environmental risks associated with gas-powered lawn care equipment and are taking steps to transition to electric equipment. 2 Chatham High School Seniors Named Governor's STEM Scholars Two Chatham High School students, Willy Chan and Mihir Rao, have been named among the Governor's STEM Scholars — a program of the Research & Development Council of New Jersey. Chan and Rao are two of the 100 New Jersey high school and college students to complete the year-long program, which provides a complete view of New Jersey's STEM economy. The Governor's STEM Scholars 2022 class includes scholars from 20 different New Jersey counties. 'Broadway Under the Stars' Musical Event Comes To Downtown Chatham A night of Broadway-themed music performed by Chatham High School's performers will take place at the Reasoner Park gazebo on Friday, May 20.
