First, today's weather: Cloudy, cooler; a p.m. shower. High: 75 Low: 62. It's amazing how things cool down after a good thunderstorm! Here are the top stories today in Glen Burnie: Early Voting, the horse not the constitutional right, won the 147th Preakness yesterday. Despite the extremely hot temperature, Early Voting was able to take the lead away from Epicenter. Epicenter was the favorite to win. (WMAR 2)Police are investigating what caused a megabus to crash and rolled over onto it's side on I-95 yesterday morning. The bus was coming from New York and traveling to Washington, DC when the crash occurred. Fifteen people, including the driver, were taken to the hospital. (WBAL 11)The heatwave was broken by a line of severe thunderstorms yesterday afternoon. After several days of record temps in the high 90's the storm was a nice relief. The storm was expected to bring damaging winds and hail. (WBFF 45) Today in Glen Burnie: There is a Robot Building Party going on tonight! The Broadneck Library is hosting this event at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all non-registered, soon to be Girl Scouts in K through 3rd grade! (Patch)Joanne Shaw Taylor is visiting from the UK to entertain us! She will be playing at the Rams Head in Annapolis tonight. The Show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $27.50 each. (Visit Maryland)Paint night at the Rumor Reel in Pasadena tonight. The class starts at 6:15 - 8 p.m. The class is $45 per painting kit. You can either paint there or take the kit home. Proceed will go toward the American Cancer Society (All Events) From my notebook: Summer time in Maryland is a glorious time of year! Crabs, cookouts, snowballs and thunderstorms! Never take a shower during a storm, everything needed to be unplugged and preferably sit in the dark. These old wives tales were told to her by my grandmother.
