African American Museum of Bucks County to Host Community Gathering

The African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC) will host a community brunch and gathering reception on Saturday, June 4th, 2022, from 11am-2pm at the First Baptist Church of Langhorne, 215 East Richardson Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047. The event will be held in the Gloria Lockett Dining Hall. The Museum requests attendees to RSVP to: 215-752-1909 or to [email protected]. The community will be updated on the progress of our exciting new adventure, the AAMBC's first ever brick and mortar permanent home. The museum will be located at the historical Boone Farm, on Route 413 in Langhorne, PA. The building is currently being renovated by the County, thanks to the generosity of the Bucks County Commissioners. It will be turned over to the museum to occupy on completion. AAMBC will then furnish, outfit and operate from this location. Preliminary plans for the Museum include 6 exhibition halls. A library, educational video display hall featuring AAMBC's Untold Stories and Hidden Figures original videos and an historic timeline exhibit are planned for the Museum's first floor. An exhibition hall featuring the achievements of the African American community, an activity classroom and rotating exhibit hall are planned for the second floor. Outside the Museum, the AAMBC envisions picnic benches and tables for visitors to enjoy the landscape and class trips to eat their snacks and lunches. The event will also feature a musical performance by Bucks County based veteran Broadway baritone vocalist, Marcus Chaney. Marcus's repertoire includes Motown hits and other Broadway Classics. The guest speaker for the event will be Margaret Jerrido, archivist from the historic Mother Bethel AME Church Philadelphia. "While the development of the museum's new permanent home in Middletown Township is moving along, AAMBC, as a mobile and virtual museum remains an important educational resource throughout Bucks County," said Linda Salley, AAMBC President and Executive Director. "While work moves forward at the new building in Middletown Township, a gifted lease from the Bucks County Commissioners, we will continue our active and extremely busy role in the Community!"
