Description

Agritourism Workshop Are you a farmer who is considering implementing agritourism practices on your farm? Are you already engaging with agritourism activities and wondering how to improve upon them? Are you curious to know how agritourism can help you increase your farm profits? Then please join us for a two part series on agritourism that will take place at the Clay County Chamber of Commerce Wednesdays June 22 and June 29 from 5:00- 7:00 PM. Agritourism on farms can include typical educational activities like farm tours, petting zoos and hay rides, but can also include activities like on-farm housing for tourists, pick-your-own berry farms and hosting wedding activities. There are a lot of factors to take into consideration when determining if agritourism is right for your farm. These classes will present on topics such as business planning, marketing, resources, liability and risk management for your agritourism operation. This initial workshop will provide an introduction to agritourism. Participants will learn about the benefits of agritourism and the types of activities that can be included in an agritourism operation. Participants will be asked to complete a self-evaluation to see if adding agritourism activities is right for their farm. We will also discuss resources that are available for farmers interested in becoming an agritourism operator.
