Our customers are special to us, and we prove it by going the extra mile for them… Taking care of cars, and the people who drive them! We are looking for a Paint Prepper to join our growing team. In this role, the Prepper will be responsible for preparing all assigned vehicles for the refinishing and reassembly processes and support the Painters in paint jobs, as required, in a timely, accurate, efficient manner- in accordance with Fix Auto’s SOP’s- enabling teammates to complete repairs in a timely manner. The successful Prepper will be someone who is able to multi-task, be punctual, be detail-oriented, and excels at working in a fast-paced environment. Description • Complete all paint preparation processes according to factory specifications, under direction of the senior Painter, and by following written repair orders • Assist the Painter by preparing spray-out panels to determine color matching needs • Assist in sanding and buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards • Track the status of assigned vehicles and assist in problem solving to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery • Adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal • Follow vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including the maintenance of the paint booth and booth filters • Maintain a clean and organized workspace • Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc., to complete quality work • Clean, wax, polish, and refurbish vehicles • Identify areas of the repair that may require additional corrosion protection (hidden welds, etc.) • Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician • Perform other related duties as assigned including but not limited to washing cars, cleaning the shop, assisting other teammates, etc. Working Conditions The Paint Prepper will spend time in a normal autobody paint shop of the collision repair center. Daily physical activities consist of: • Reaching below and above shoulder level • Kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping • Lifting and carrying objects over 50 pounds • Standing for extended periods of time • Repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion • Must be able to push/pull parts carts and cars with assistance • Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment • Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work performed The work environment consists of: • Exposure to fumes, chemicals and dust • Exposure to moving mechanical machinery and parts • High levels of noise • Subjectivity to weather conditions Key Qualifications • Must be over 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license • 2+ years’ experience as a Paint Prepper in a collision repair facility or an automotive dealership • Effective verbal and written communication • Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates, and work orders • Fun, personable, customer-service focus • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills • Great time management • Easily adaptable in fast-paced environments To apply, please email your resume to [email protected]
