On May 20, 2022, just after 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary alarm at Golf Tech located at 1275 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas. When deputies arrived, they observed a vehicle leaving the business. Deputies conducted a traffic stop to further investigate and observed golf equipment in the back of the vehicle. When deputies asked the two occupants to turn the car off and exit the vehicle, they refused and drove away. A traffic pursuit ensued and ended about 3 miles away when the occupants ran from the vehicle.
With the assistance of a Sheriff's Canine and drone, both subjects were located and taken into custody. A representative from Golf Tech confirmed the golf equipment found in the suspect's vehicle had in fact been stolen from the business. Both suspects were arrested and booked into county jail for various charges related to burglary, narcotic possession and traffic violations.
This incident appears to be related to burglaries which have recently occurred in Fallbrook and La Jolla. Sheriff's and San Diego Police detectives will be conducting follow-up investigations.
