Redwood Research is a research organization with the mission of aligning superhuman AI. We’re led by Nate Thomas (CEO), Buck Shlegeris (CTO), and Bill Zito (COO). We currently have 17 people on staff. Our board is Holden Karnofsky, Paul Christiano, and Nate Thomas. In addition to our primary work of applied AI alignment research, Redwood hosts and operates Constellation, an invite-only office space we created to foster greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing between longtermist organizations. Constellation currently hosts about 60 people from several organizations, and we anticipate future expansion. We’re looking for an Operations Assistant to help keep the Constellation office running smoothly and our members working happily. This is a fast-paced, high-energy role with physical, mental, and social / service aspects. Responsibilities include: Receiving and unpacking shipments, and disposing of waste materials Assembling furniture Supporting intra-office moves (people switching offices, rearranging furniture, etc.) Helping rearrange and organize storage Driving to purchase and pick up items for the office Anticipating and responding to office support requests from colleagues Helping run events (setup, teardown, food restocking, etc.) Simple online administrative tasks Other support tasks as directed This is a temporary, half time role. The schedule is 8:30am-12:30pm, Monday-Friday, with catered lunch provided. We expect this role to be needed for 1 month, from June 1 to June 30, 2022. Our office is in downtown Berkeley, thirteen seconds from the nearest BART stop. Compensation depends on experience, and starts at $30/hr.
