JOB SUMMARY Taza is organized into three major functions at its Somerville operation: Production, Sales & Marketing, and Operations. The Maintenance Technician position primarily supports our production operations. This person can expect to be on the production floor daily, servicing the chocolate manufacturing and wrapping equipment. We are looking for an individual who can work independently to accomplish the tasks required efficiently and effectively. Someone who is self-motivated and willing to step in and help wherever necessary. The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Engineering Manager and will work closely with the Plant Manager and the production team. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ● The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to maintain all production related equipment to their fullest capacity. ● Additional responsibility includes facility maintenance. ● Effectively communicate and take direction from the Plant Manager as well as other members of the production team. ● Creation of a preventative maintenance system to ensure all production and production support equipment is serviced based on vendor recommendations ● Maintain accurate inventory of tool crib, equipment and supplies. ● Getting manufacturing equipment back in working order, working with contractors and ordering parts as needed ● Assist on capital projects. EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS A successful Maintenance Technician has a positive/can-do attitude, and is a team player. The right candidate will be mechanically inclined and have moderate carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC knowledge. The candidate must be diligent in their duties and able to make independent decisions and to prioritize effectively. This position requires interfacing with all Taza teams and strong verbal communication and organizational skills. The Maintenance Technician should be motivated by the ever-changing dynamic of Taza Chocolate’s needs. This position requires flexibility in scheduling in case an emergency repair is needed. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, and climbing activities. Lifting and carrying of bulky or heavy items may be required. EDUCATION ● High school or equivalent, or Technical school Preferred ● Experience: Maintenance: 2-3 years REMOTE WORK: No HOURS This is a full-time, hourly position. Hours for this position are determined by Taza’s manufacturing and business hours, although some work will need to be done during off-hours. The employee is expected to work at least 40 hours per week and may need to work on an on-call basis as the need arises.
