CURE'S ANTI-RACIST BOOK CLUB FOR YOUNG FAMILIES **Our summer book club has reached capacity! Please join the waitlist and indicate your interest for future family book clubs HERE.**Join us for CURE's first-ever family event! CURE (The Coalition for Understanding Racism through Education) is excited to offer a 5-week summer book club for kids ages 3-6 (pre-K to 1st grade) and their parents on Saturdays from 3-4pm at the Larchmont Public Library, dates below. June 4, 11, 18, 25 & July 9 Each week, families will participate in story time and accompanying activities, facilitated by community leaders, based on themes such as Why People Look Different, What is Racism, and How We Can Change the World. Our goal is for you and your little ones to have fun while learning by example how to comfortably and consistently talk about race and racism at home. CURE will host a parents-only session via Zoom before and after the 5-week series to help parents feel more comfortable guiding conversations that the book club may prompt. Dates and information about these sessions will be provided to registrants. We are running this summer series as a pilot program, and as such, CURE is pleased to cover all costs and allow families to participate for FREE! *NOTE: Registration is only required once to attend all dates in the 5-week series. While this first book club is being hosted for kids ages 3-6 (pre-K to 1st grade), we will be organizing future book clubs targeting all age ranges. To receive news on these future clubs, sign up for updates here. CURE's Anti-Racist Book Club for Young Families program is built upon the One Million Talks campaign, which asks parents to make a pledge to talk about race and racism with their children early and often in a commitment to raising an anti-racist generation. Sign the pledge & spread the word! All books read during this series have been selected by The Humble Bumble, and will be available for purchase through this wonderful, New Rochelle-based, Black and female-owned independent bookseller.
