The Alzheimer's Education Series & the Inspire You Agency are partnering to provide a lunch and learn series to educate our friends & family Alzheimer's and other dementias cause memory, thinking and behavior problems that interfere with daily living. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. Current estimates are that about 5.8 million people in the United States have Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, including 5.6 million aged 65 and older and about 200,000 under age 65 with younger-onset Alzheimer's. Many families are struggling to juggle caring for aging parents, while caring for their own families. The Inspire You Agency, a division of Five Rings Financial has a solution that can provide peace of mind for the unexpected things that come up in life, and cognitive loss is just one of those things they help people with everyday. Together, we are hosting an education series of four LIVE Lunch and Learn hour-long programs. Attend one or all of the below workshops to educate yourself on this very important information that is effecting millions of people each and everyday. Doors open at 11:00 am and we begin at 11:30 am and we'll wrap up by 12:30 pm. Friday, July 8 - The 10 Warning Signs -Join us to learn how to recognize common signs of the disease; how to approach someone about memory concerns; the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis; possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, and Alzheimer's Association resources. Friday, July 22 - Understanding Alzheimer's & Dementia-Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. Join us to learn about the impact of Alzheimer's; the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia; stages and risk factors; current research and treatments available for some symptoms; and Alzheimer's Association resources. Friday, August 5 - Dementia Conversations-Learn tips for breaking the ice to address some of the most common issues tghat are difficult to discusss; going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and finanial plans for future care. Friday, August 19 - Effective Communication Strategies -Learn how to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia andd identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
