About the Artists Fred Haas (saxophone and piano) is a Distinguished Senior Lecturer at Dartmouth College (recently retired) and has toured the world playing with Ray Charles, Gene Bertoncini, Sheila Jordan, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and many others, including performances with Oscar Peterson, Pat Metheny and Clark Terry. “Fred communicates…he consistently displays not merely a knowledge of his craft, but a sincere dedication to sharing those ideas and ideals with others. As a musician, he is an intelligent and fiery improviser, a harmonic wizard: one who plays music with warmth, wit, and sincerity.” Fred founded and is the Director of Interplay Jazz & Arts, a non-profit organization that brings people together for workshops and jam sessions to learn, play and create. The holistic approach encourages everyone to live a rich and expressive life immersed in jazz and art. Billy Rosen (guitar) has been playing jazz guitar since his teens. At the University of Pittsburgh, he studied jazz performance under the guidance of saxophonist Nathan Davis. Billy has also enjoyed a successful twenty-year career as an Ophthalmologist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Billy has studied and played with guitar greats Freddy Bryant, Jason Ennis, David Newsam, and Gene Bertoncini. Billy Rosen is a sought-after jazz guitarist in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Florida. Sabrina Brown (vocals) is inspired by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, Joni Mitchell, and Ray Charles and simply loves performing music from The Great American Songbook, Broadway hits, country songs with a good story, and contemporary jazz. Sabrina’s passion and joy are shared with the audience, and she uses her rich, warm voice to tell the stories of the songs she performs. Sabrina owns Woodstock Productions, a wedding and event planning business. She is also the co-founder and event planner of Interplay Jazz & Arts with her husband Fred Haas. A Listening Room Experience Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from across New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. To do this, we ask that our audience please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow both the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments. All shows commence at 6:00 PM with a warm-up artist. We encourage you to arrive early and enjoy food and wine until 7:20 while listening to our first act of the evening. The kitchen will close at 7:00. We will introduce the featured artists at 7:20, and we will ask that the audience remain quiet during the performance. The first set will be from 7:30 to 8:15. There is a short intermission from 8:15 to 8:30, at which time you are encouraged to interact, freshen your drinks, and use the restrooms as needed. At 8:30, the show resumes with the second set, concluding between 9:00 and 9:15.
